#Will there be another tomorrow war movie movie
I'm always mindful of how can we make this different than the last? Because you've got a movie star. It's surrounding him with other actors and production designing it in a way that feels real. So, part of it's the way you're shooting Chris in these scenes. I mean, it's a heightened realness, but there's a realness. We had Larry Fong as a DP, and there's a realness to the thing. You try to be very mindful of that, whether it's costuming choices, whether it's the way you're shooting stuff. These are different characters, but how mindful do you have to be of making sure you're giving a different flavor from Star-Lord or Owen from Jurassic World? I mean, he's just a really generous guy, as a human being, as well as an actor. So, I got really lucky that Chris wanted to do this movie and was that giving. He's willing to put himself out there emotionally, in every way. And Chris is really amazing and open with his vulnerability. I want to keep trying to make it more and more real, make it more and more honest.
I don't want to see the same thing over and over again. So, I want us to try different things in different takes. And I was game to do it, because I like a loose improvisational style. And yet, this kind of grounded character study was something that he really wanted to throw himself into. Obviously, Chris can play a lot of different things - he's Star-Lord, Jurassic World, as well as Zero Dark Thirty, as well as Her, and Parks and Rec, obviously - he can do so many different things. What did he have that you knew was perfect for this part? And I hope someday I can share it with people, because she is one of a kind.Ĭhris Pratt has established himself as part of this new class of action heroes. Her intensity and her vulnerability and her rawness were really on display in a really beautiful way. It gave you a little bit of color of how she felt when Chris, being disappointed with some of the things going on his life, disappears in his work and things like that. It was early on in the movie, and it explored their relationship from her perspective. It was exploring Chris and Betty's relationship a little bit more. But I'm hoping in the sequel, we'll get the whole band back together: Betty, Sam, Chris obviously, everybody. But it's my greatest regret, honestly, on this movie, is not being able to find a way to make that scene work. But it's a scene, unfortunately for timing reasons, we had to cut. There are some takes with her that just anybody who watches her immediately tears up.
Because there's a scene that Betty did between her and Chris that was really great, and Betty was amazing. Betty is amazing, and I really hope that if we get to do a sequel, that we get to use more of Betty.
And with this cast, too, we’re just getting started.Chris McKay: Yeah, I would love to have seen that, too. So yeah, I think that could be a lot of fun. I think that a sequel could go in a lot of fun areas and the ethnographic study of the White Spikes in their world and where they came from, and what their purpose was, and all of that kind of thing. In an interview with Variety, Chris added, “I like world-building experiments, especially when you have the potential of some kind of time travel. So, I’m hoping that that’s something they’ll will want to do.”
To me, there’s a lot more to this world, even from a design standpoint, from the stuff we designed and stuff like that. He continued, “It’s like what they did with The Purge or something like that, where it’s like they start with a really interesting concept and now the next movie and the next movie get to sort of play with those things and explore those things and blow them out. So, there’s a lot of things that I think we can mess with and have a lot fun.” “I think there’s a lot of story on the table from a time travel perspective, from a world-building perspective from the White Spikes. “I hope that Amazon wants to make a sequel to this movie, because I think it’ll be a lot of fun,” Chris told MovieWeb. So, what are the plans for a potential sequel? Director Chris McKay is speaking out! The epic time-travel movie was originally intended to be released in theaters in 2020, but Paramount Pictures sold the film to Amazon during the pandemic for a reported $200 million. Chris Pratt‘s new movie The Tomorrow War is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video and fans will likely be wondering if a franchise is being planned.
